Look for changes in the tile line
A tile sitting slightly high, low or twisted may have a broken nib or crack that is difficult to see from below.
Damage can spread beyond one tile
Foot traffic, impact and frost can affect neighbouring pieces. Once access is in place, the tiles around the obvious break should be checked as well.
The wrong replacement can create another gap
Interlocking tiles rely on their side locks and profile. A near-match that does not seat properly can hold adjoining tiles up.
